There are several ways of how you could have a physician-patientrelationship with a physician you have never met. An example in the“Oliver v. Brock” case would be how Anita Oliver doctor, Dr.Whitfield, was having a telephone conversation with a colleaguenamed Dr. Brock and mentioned Anita’s treatment and asked for hisopinion. Another example would be a pathologist. It may seem likepathologist and patients do not directly communicate with oneanother but they typically diagnose and communicate with patientsthrough primary care physicians, surgeons and oncologists.

Does the law require that you must see in person a doctor tohave a contractual relationship? Why or why not?

Why might a legal duty exist even if no such relationshipapplies?
