What would you add to this approach?
Iwould modify my approach by encouraging them to interact one-oneand in small groups with other children as they obviously feel morecomfortable there. I would take the time to be present during thosesessions, but not too involved so the child might become morecomfortable around me and might start to be more open to learningand listening individually. I would also make time for that childto have a safe haven before or after having individual time where Igive them directions so they can have a break from talking. I wouldalso modify my behavior and try to have the child see and hear moreof me so any individual attention isn’t always about directions,but spending enjoyable one on one time together. I would also havea group with the child follow certain instructions and then have asmaller group with the child do the same thing so it’s repetitiveand allows them to feel more confident and safe even in a smallergroup
