Lab HW3 for Ch6 due 3/14 Harold, a 16 y/o patient, comes to the office complaining of a constant buzzing in his ears and increased difficulty in hearing. He admits that his mother noticed that he does not respond when she calls his name, and complained that he often seems to live in his own world. He is a big fan of hard rock and heavy metal music and listens to it constantly on a headset, blasts it in his car, and goes to local bars to enjoy it with a beer twice per month. You performed Weber hearing test with Tuning fork (512 Hz). He told you that the vibration of the fork is louder on his right side. (1) Can you predict which side of his cochlear has damage? Hint: loud noise is a potential cause of cochlear damage (sensorineural hearing loss) (2) Can you explain frequency (Hz) and intensity (dB) of the sound in plain words to the patient?
