Preop Dx: Lumbar spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease Postop Dx: Same Procedure: Epidural steroid injection Anesthesia: IV sedation Procedure Description: The patient was positioned prone on the operating room table. Posterior lumbar area was prepped with pHisoHex. Sterile drapes were applied. IV sedation was administered. 1% Xylocaine was used to infiltrate the skin and subcutaneous tissues in the caudal area. A #16 gauge Tuohy needle was inserted in the caudal epidural space using the C arm for guidance verification as well as a loss ot resistance. Once the needle was in the epidural space at the level L3-L4, 20 milligrams of Kenalog and 5 cc of 0.25% Marcaine were injected at this level. Epidural needle was withdrawn.
