Please read the case study and answer the following questions: • 78 year old African American Male • Wife died 6 months ago • Lives alone in Urban Area • Retired postal worker • Baptist Religion • Medicare Medicaid Insurance • Daughter lives nearby and helps when she can. However, Mr. Ball is very independent and refuses help most of the time. Vague complaints of not feeling well and being lonely sometimes. Complains of no energy. 20 lb weight loss since wife died. Current medications are Lasix 40mg qd and Vasotec 5mg BID. NO OTC medications except for MOM (Milk of Magnesia) for constipation. No illegal drug use. Medical hx: Htn x 2 years Labwork: Blood glucose 82 mg/dL; prealbumin level = 9 mg/dL; Serum transferrin level = 100: Creatinine level= 0.5 mg/dL; Hemoglobin 12.0 g/dL 1.
