B. What kind of intervention strategy would you apply to the problem in Question 72 Intervention strategies for Substance Abuse: • Assessing the behaviour for use of the substance. Assessing dose and frequency taken by different age groups. • Establishing priorities by analyzing the extent of problem, severity, salience, preventive potential and modifiability of the problems. • Setting goals and objectives. A goal is set to overcome the current problem. The goal of the above need is to ‘create awareness and reduce the occurrence of the cases’. The objectives include: Screening individuals to find drug use, to create awareness, early detection and treatment, providing rehabilitation services, preventing relapses. Meeting the leaders of the area and creating awareness about the problem through pamphlets and flyers. Performing Behavioural surveys such as the Youth Risk Behaviour Survey for drug use, unprotected sexual activity and violence. Training and educating the nursing staff about the problem. • Involving community members in further planning.
