Baby Ittybit Baby Ittybit is a 48-hour old Black-American neonate. He was born at the birth center two days ago. The baby was skin to skin with the mother immediately after birth and was able to establish a satisfactory breast feeding within two hours of life. He is breastfeeding well and is active and alert. Case Study The nurse is making a home visit to check on the mother and the baby. Baby Ittybit nursed for 30 minutes on his mother’s right breast about an hour ago. Mom stated that she could hear the baby swallowing as he nursed. The baby has had three wet diapers and two poopy diapers. The baby has been sleeping quietly in the bassinet since the feeding. The maternal grandmother is very concern about the baby because he appears yellow. She had discouraged her daughter from breastfeeding and wanted her to deliver in the hospital. She is convinced that the baby is getting sick due to breastfeeding and being born outside of an acute care facility. The mother is becoming tearful and losing her confidence. Questions 1.
