CASE 2 48 year old male complaining of bruising. No issues 8 months ago Patient claims to be a social drinker and is not on anticoagulant medication. Clinical findings: Prominent abdomen and several small vascular lesions on face and chest. CT scan revealed cirrhosis of the liver. PT aPTT CBC 17 sec 48 sec Normal platelet count Some abnormal shaped rBCs present Questions: 1. How can both the PT and aPTT be prolonged? 2. Why bruising if the platelets are normal? 3. What would be your diagnosis for this patient? Hereditary or acquired? 4. Explain why the patient is presenting with his symptoms based on your diagnosis.
