Case Scenario – 2 At age 40, Alan began dealing with a frozen shoulder and bouts of depression. He also noticed asymmetric tremors at rest, rigidity, and bradykinesia (slowness in movement). After a few years, with worsening and increasing symptoms, his mother suggested he see a doctor. By this time, his symptoms included problems with gait while walking and an even deeper depression he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Devastated with the diagnoses this led him to make a decision to take early retirement from his longtime career which he loved. The doctor recommended the start of Sinemet (Levodopa Carbidopa) as well as rehab to control and stabilize his gait. Alan feels further into depression thinking about his future and what he will be faced with.
