Case Study 3-1: Break a Chain of Infection Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection broke out within an elder care facility affecting only patients with type 2 diabetes. Investiga- tion found that the staff at the nursing home used a glucometer, a pen-like finger-stick device (Figure 3-9), to monitor the blood glucose of these patients.
