Case Study – A male premature infant was born by caesareansection at 27 weeks’ gestation with a birth weight of 1100 grams.His Apgar scores were 1 at 1 minute and 6 at 5 minutes. Aftertransfer to the NICU on CPAP 6 cm H2O and an FIO2 of 0.40, thepatient’s respiratory status deteriorated. He was intubated andreceived mechanical ventilatory respiratory support for 5 weeks forRDS. His first opthalmic examination revealed bilateral changesconsistant with Grade 2 ROP. CryoROP criteria, treatment wasperformed at a corrected gestational age. The infant responded wellto the treatment, and both eyes showed rapid regression of theabnormal vessels.
