I had a hard time understanding the direct-acting drugs relatedto the cholinergic drug chapter In the textbook. In this section,it explained that the following drugs carbachol, pilocarpine, andechothiophate are used topically because they are poorly absorbedorally but the drug bethanechol was an exception because it isadministered orally.
I just was curious and had a hard time understanding whybethanechol could be taken orally and what properties make itdifferent from the other direct-acting drugs?
