Mrs Camillero has been in the consumerial aged care home whereCaro works for just over a year. She has recently been sufferingbouts of nausea and vomiting, pain in her ribs and has lost weight.Caro is upset to hear she has returned from tests with the news shehas bone cancer and is only expected to live two to three months.When Caro goes in to help her get up she decides to ask her abouther results. Mrs Camillero starts to talk at breakneck speed aboutthe diagnosis and the shock and her fears. Caro sits quietly withher and listens carefully. When she calms a bit, Caro asks herquestions to discover her real fear is not seeing her first greatgrandchild due in 4 months. She has no real fear of dying as she isstrongly religious and looks forward to seeing her husband again.Caro talks gently to her about hope and positive attitudes and shecalms down. Caro holds her hand, gives her a hug and promises toring her daughter to ask her to come in early as Mrs Camilleroneeds to talk. Whilst Caro assists her to shower and dress theyreminisce about Mrs Camillero’s big family and she even laughsabout her youngest brother who has just remarried at 75.
