On a very hot sunny day Elizabeth brings her five year olddaughter Meghan for a day trip to the carnival. She brings a lunchput in a regular paper bag for Meghan which consist of a mayo &bologna sandwich, a carton of milk and 4 cookies. Upon arrivalMeghan goes on all the kid rides then she has her full lunch. Thisis followed by a few more rides and then they start heading home asMeghan starts complaining of a belly ache. On their way home,Meghan starts crying and says she is getting motion sickness. Thisis followed rapidly by a violent emetic & diarrheal state tothe point where she passes out. The mom turns around immediatelyand brings the child to the hospital. On arrival, she is givenwater and an electrolyte solution to which she recovers. (4) Meghan was affected by the hot sun and the carnival ridesgave her vertigo which led to her belly ache. This made her vomitand have diarrhea which combined allowed her to lose importantvolume of bodily fluids. Frightened by this, she has passedout.
