John Smith is a 64-year-old male. His past medical historyincludes BPH, HTN, chronic back pain, COPD, seasonal allergies,Erectile dysfunction, and intermittent UTI’s. Mr. Smith hascompleted school through 8th grade but then ultimatelybecame a laborer until his retirement. His wife accompanies him tomeetings with doctors to assist and learn about the medications aswell. Mr. Smith is very independent however and does not want torely on his wife.
Each student will prepare an educational pamphlet on one of theprototype medications from the semester that applies to thescenario and client above. They must use the appropriate healthliteracy level for a patient/family member. The pamphlet mustinclude:
- expected action
- therapeutic uses
- side effects/adverse effects
- medication/food interactions
- any specific details pertinent to that medication
