Preop dx: Status post hyperemesis gravidarum, post Hickman catheter Postop dx Same Procedure performed. Removal of Hickman catheter Description of Procedure: The patient was placed on the operating table in the supine position and monitored appropriately The right neck and chest were sterilely prepped and draped. The suture securing her Hickman catheter exit site was removed. The area was infiltrated with local anesthetic of 1% Xylocaine with bicarbonate. The catheter was manipulated with a clamp, was freed up, and was extruded and removed completely without the need to open the subclavian site. The catheter and its Teflon cuff were removed intact without difficulty. The wound was clean and dry and closed with one suture of 4-0 nylon Sterile dressings were applied.
