Social vs. health services spending: how to end disparities .The more than I work with healthcare organizations across the U.S.,the more conversations I have about the need to improve communityresources. Many health problems also are community and socialproblems. There are excellent resources from churches, non-profitorganizations, charitable arms of public companies who want tohelp, but are constrained. Think for example of food insecurity.People who do not have enough or the right variety of food haveincreased issues with chronic diseases and acute illnesses. Clinicsand hospitals can help direct people to resources, but food shelvesare sometimes avoided by people due to the negative stigma. How canwe partner with others in the community to make our communitieshealthier overall?
