Styles 14. How would you handle the following situations in your medical office? (1 mark each; 6 marks total) 1. A new patient has telephoned and is very “pushy” about getting an appointment at a time when you have no space available and you have reached the maximum of 50 relative value points. 2. A new patient has arrived for his scheduled appointment, but the doctor has not yet arrived in the office and there are already two follow-up patients waiting. 3. You are very busy with medical billing, and a patient has arrived and is standing by your desk, wishing to speak to you about making an appointment. 4. An appointment time needs to be changed for one of your patients because the doctor will not be there at the previously scheduled time. You have been trying unsuccessfully for several days to contact your patient. 5. A new patient has made a mistake and arrived on the wrong date for his/her appointment. 6. Patients have complained that the magazines in the waiting room are all pre-2010.
