Scenario: Hospitalisation in children can be a negativeexperience and approximately 50% of paediatric patients experienceanxiety especially when undergoing a surgical procedure (Dionigi& Greigni, 2016). Distractive strategies such as the use ofmedia, games, art therapy have been proven to be more effective atreducing children’s anxiety than parental presence or medication(Dionigi & Greigni, 2016).
