One year ago, Mr. Johnson had an elective left total-hipreplacement for osteoarthritis. Four months later, he had amyocardial infarction. Two weeks ago, while on his exercise bike,he had a stroke. His right arm and leg were paralyzed, he lost hisspeech, and he had difficulty swallowing. He arrived in theEmergency Department within 3 hours of the stroke and receivedthrombolytic therapy. Mr. Johnson is now receiving physicaltherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy in the inpatientRehabilitation Unit. He is able to say some simple words and hasbegun to have voluntary movements in the arm and leg. Your rolesare to help him regain function in his arm and leg and to monitorand record his progress.
